Ami McKay to speak of witches, wisdom, and women who dare.
PRESS RELEASE – Although set amid New York’s Gilded-Age of the 1880s, The Witches of New York, could not be more timely. Through the lives of a trio of vivid female characters, McKay is able to explore the topics of women’s rights and women’s wisdom, alongside women’s ongoing struggle for equality on the world stage, a stage upon which women are often not welcome and viewed with suspicion. McKay shares, “The word “witch” continues to be used as a disparaging label, placed upon any woman who dares to be outspoken, live outside the norm, or who strives for a place in society not traditionally held by her gender.
